x Information: Enabling too many layers at once in the map may have a performance impact on your browser. Some layers are rendered as vector data in your browser and some browsers cope better than others with many vectors.

Metrico's OpenGeoPortail is a knowledge platform for spatial data in the Great Region. The Great Region is a european community including Saar - Lor- Lux, Rhineland-Palatinate, Wallonie and the french and german speaking parts of Belgium. The Great Region is an agile part of Europe where people cross borders frequently for going to work or just simply shopping. In this part it plays a somewhat unique role in Europe.

Metrico offers to anyone to publish her data in the OpenGeoPortail and let it be seen in a unique and comprehensive way with other data. We offer to publish data in a manifold way, including many coordinate systems (national and international ones), data formats and of course following the standards of the OpenGeoSpatial Consortium. If you want to participate with the European INSPIRE initative it is vital to know and follow these standards — and we give you the opportunity to do so.

We combine publically available data with scientific data to give a superior experience with maps and data. Our public data comes from the OpenStreetMap Project, but we provide our own background-map look developed by experienced cartographers. This background map gives you all the vital information you need to put your spatial data into context, but it is subtle and restrained to not steal the visitors eye from your data.

The map above shows a selection of information taken from different sources and put into the context of the Great Region. It shows a variety of information in topics concerning transport, tourism, energy and more. We even have an interpolated map of radio activity mesurements and its distribution of Luxembourg for the year 2010! If you enable the radioactivity maps in the layer switcher, you can use our Timeline, availble in the menu bar, to scroll through the maps for each month of 2010
